*turns to him with a bit of a smile* Now I have an excuse to buy them, which was just what I was looking for. Of course they'd look good on me. Thank you....?
*turns to the guards* Go inside. Buy those shoes in a size six. Not six and a half. Then take them back to the palace and put them in my room. Then ask the cook to make me an Apple Walnut Salad. Thank you! *smiles brightly and shoos them off*
*turns back to him* Right then, Gil-galad, did you say? *pause* I think I know your father, actually.
*laughs* No, not at all actually. It was stimulating conversation and oh god yes it was boring.
*looks at him carefully* What are you doing in Delving, then? Very few Noldor have the balls courage to come here. My father is... unwelcoming. Or are you just incredibly brave?
*laughs too* Oh, I'm terribly brave. Terribly curious as well, you understand. In spite of your -- unwelcoming -- father, tales of you have spread. I was in Ossiriand a few weeks ago, you know, and I swear you were on the front page of all the magazines.
*giggles softly and covers part of her face with her hand* Well, if you're going to be so sweet about it all, I'll have to see what I can do about granting you safe passage through the city. *glances down at her feet for a minute* Is that the only reason you came?
*completely seriously* Usually one has to submit a form, in triplicate, to a committee on my social activities. Once it has passed the committee it goes to my father, who either passes it and signs away my time, or declines it and has the requestor burned at the stake. It's quite simple really.
Do you think your father would accept a retro-active application form? *tiny smile* I could show you a fantastic time and fill out the paperwork tomorrow.
*takes his arm with a smile* Trying to get the native impression, are you? Well then... *glances around* may I suggest.... *drops her hand down to grab his* ...we RUN. *takes off running as fast as she can, pulling him along with her, dodging around corners and going down stairwells, etc etc etc*
*finally stops and leans against a wall, gasping for breath*
We lost the guards! *grins* They never actually left, you see, they were "hiding" around the corner the entire time. Once they saw what was going on they started to get a little antsy. So we lost them. It's for the best, really. My dad doesn't need to know every teensy detail of what goes on in my life.
I've had a lot of practice, but they are starting to get wiley with experience.
Hmm. *looks around* Over there. *points to a smallish cafe that's terribly out of the way and pretty much deserted* You offered a glass of water, I believe?
That's a mighty big assumption there. *looks around suspisciously* Any time some big burly men could just come and drag you away, never to be seen again. Don't worry, we won't stay in one place for long. *is joking she thinks*
*laughs* Thanks for the gallantry and all, but I think we'd better stick with me saving you. It'll hurt your manly ego a little, but it'll have to do. Don't worry, I won't tell too many of your friends about it.
*hides his face in his hands* I'll never be able to show my face again, you know. I was a High King, once upon a time, and now look at me. I think I might need therapy!
Well, that sounds about right, then. *spots a suspiciously familiar looking person pass by the shop* And we're on the move again. *grabs his hand and sneaks out the back into the alley behind the shop*
*thinks* Larry's Tap's known to be nice and disreputable. Sounds like a good time. I say we give it a try. I think I know a nice, incredibly complicated back way to get there too. Just in case.
I tend to attract attention sometimes so, uh, yeah.
*sits in a cozy spot near enough to the exit but still somewhat concealed from everywhere else* You promised a drink and I think it's high time you delivered.
*smiles and orders a very potent Noldorin cocktail, pointing it out to the waiter* *totally doesn't want her to realize he's ordering them both Kinslayers*
Oh. My. Thank you ever so much, Princess. I've not been called pretty in quite a long time. *inclines his head* But I do know that you definitely have me beaten in the general area of prettiness.
*through a wide grin* I know what you meant. I also know that you drank that way too fast and as entertaining as it all is right now, perhaps I ought to help you home?
