Dear Lúthien,

I hear that you are on the mend which is, of course, wonderful news. Forgive me for not visiting you. I was informed that your condition might be contagious and I'm sure that you can understand that I did not wish to put Celeborn in any danger. However, my thoughts have been with you. Please do enjoy these flowers and this DVD which, the girls in the Entertainment section of the paper inform me, is the best movie of the year.

Dear Uncle Elmo,

Thank you so much for the flowers and DVD! I've been wanting to see this movie for some time and I haven't had a chance. Thank you! I'm happy to hear from you. Don't worry about not being able to come see me while I was sick. I don't really remember much from the past few days anyway. I am getting better, though, even though I still have a fever. I don't feel as sick at least. Hopefully I'll be better soon and you can bring Celeborn for a visit. I haven't seen him in so long! Give him a hug for me (but not a diseased hug).
