*gives you a strange look* Decorater? *laughs* Who needs a decorator? I just picked out some stuff I liked and let the staff do the rest. *nods his head assuredly* They're good people.
Oh, you fool. Oh, you silly boy. *patiently* Turukáno. What have I told you before? The way your house looks says something to your visitors about who you are. Right now your house is telling visitors that you don't care a bit about them. What will they think?
*testily* Well I care what it looks like. Besides, I will be entertaining ladies here in the afternoons now that I'm back. I can't let them think I allow the help to run the house.
*looks around* I'll see about getting someone in here later.
*stands up abruptly* Show me the rest of the house.
*knew she should have gone running/worn a different color/spent more time on her hair this morning!!*
*choosing her words with great care* I'm just fine. I didn't remember where I was or who anyone was but then Daddy found me and brought me home and now everything will be just fine.
*furrows her brow momentarily before returning to her normal expression*
Well, there we are. I couldn't have possibly put it more eloquently. Everything will be fine. *pats your hand* Now that I'm here to take care of you and see that everything is put to right.
*decides that must be a very good non-sarcastic thing indeed* *beams!*
*frowning slightly* Put to right? Is there anything wrong, Mama? *looks around as though she expects to see paintings hanging upside-down or mud in the carpets*
Oh, just everything little things. Nothing I would expect you to notice. Seriously. But before you know it this place will be tip-top. You'll see.
*walks along with you* Now. Tell me honestly. Does Daddy have any 'friends' that you maybe call 'aunt' or something? Perhaps that spend a lot of time here? I've been gone terribly long, you know, and I would just die if I knew you two didn't need me anymore.
*blinks* I'm...not sure what you mean. It's been just me and Daddy since I got back but I haven't been back very long either. There's Auntie Írissë...don't you remember her? But she doesn't live with us now. She's in Hithlum.
*squeezes your hand* Of course we need you! When we lost you I cried and cried for such a long time and Daddy told me how very sad he was.
*gives you a reassuring smile* I was just curious, darling, you needn't worry. I'm just happy to be with my wonderful family again *rubs a tangle out of your hair your back*
*happily chattering away* Oh, yes, lots. The boys all remember me even if I don't remember all of them yet. But it's coming back little by little. Glorfindel is just the way he always was, and Duilin too. They're so sweet. *smiles* I had a hard time coming up with Ecthelion's name at first, but he didn't mind. He's very handsome.
*raises an eyebrow* Do you really think it wise to spend so very much time with boys, Itarillë? I am sure they are completely revolting very good friends, but you should be developing relationships with the other young ladies in the community. It's important for so many different reasons. Do make an effort.
*basks in your praise* I hope I'll be as elegant and beautiful as you someday. Will you come to my tea, too? *sincerely* The girls would be so impressed to see you and have you help fix their manners and everything!
I hope I'll be as elegant and beautiful as you someday.
So do I. *firm nod* Of course I'll stop by your tea to see how you girls are getting along. You'll have to host it yourself, though, Itarillë. The ability to host a gathering is an important -- nay, necessary -- life skill. But I'll help you along.
*confidently* Don't worry, Mama. I was hostess at all of Daddy's functions in the old Gondolin and I don't remember them but I'm sure they were just lovely. Glorfindel says so and he knows everything there is to know about parties.
