*sends a letter to Elmo casually detailing an opportunity that has arisen for Celeborn to be educated in the finest school system on the planet, right there in Menegroth* *includes a colorful note to the little chap himself describing (via pictures and very small words) the bounty that awaits him as a member of the royal household—his own state-of-the-art treehouse and all the sweets he can possibly eat*
*receives the happy news that the marchwardens have busted an entire ring of Olwë's druglords but does not cease his campaign of 'helpful' bulletins plastered throughout the city alerting the citizenry to the presence of an unregistered sex offender in their midst*
*reacts poorly to a brief e-mail from Túrin saying he (Túrin) assumes he (Thingol) has heard that the wedding's off* *is nevertheless happy to know that no bastard babies will be forthcoming*
*thinks that if his daughter is happy and not getting mixed up with any men, all may be right with the world*

*is lying on his stomach on the floor of their hotel room, kicking his legs and carefully pondering the intricacies of the pictorial bouquet of multi-colored lollipops in his 'letter'*
Oh, you lick them? Now, that's a bit silly of me, isn't it? *reaches out and ruffles your hair* *sternly* But there's still a lot of sugar in them. Remember what the dentist said last time?
*carefully* It is under the ground but it's bright and there are streets and shops and loads of people. You wouldn't really know you were underground at all.
Da treehouse is outside-outside? Or inside-outside?
*tilts his head to the side* Well, I think it would be better outside-outside, don't you?
*watches your reaction before holding his arms out for a hug*
*can't help laughing* *cuddles you* If I wanna? Well, I want you to be happy. So I suppose we can give Delving a go?
Now, I'm pretty certain it is someone's bathtime. How about I e-mail Uncle Elwë and you get yourself ready for your bath and if you're good and quick, we'll have hot chocolate afterwards.
*groans slightly, but still happily* That's an exciting prospect, hmm? Someone running around and leaving sticky handprints all over your most important documents. *nostalgically* Just like when Túrin first came.
*chuckles at the memory* Aw, I don't mind, really. *(really!)* They're only young once, right? I'm fairly sure that applies to just about everyone this time around.
We'll have to get a lifeguard for the pool. The weather's just starting to turn fair not that it matters and I'm not keeping that sucker closed up.
The pool? That will be nice. I don't think we've opened the pool in a few years. Of course, our house hasn't been quite so full in the past few years, either. I heard you've decided to let Eärwen and Galadriel stay with us. *smiles a little* That's very big of you. And Túrin's other sister, Lalaith, is back as well. And Lúthien will probably be having babies soon!
I heard you've decided to let Eärwen and Galadriel stay with us.
That rathole they're living in now? Twenty dollars a day to park in the lot. For GUESTS! I know, I saw it on the news! Not that Swanny has a car, I don't think. Or even knows how to drive necessarily. But still. It's the principle of the thing.
*pondering* I think Túrin mentioned in his one-line e-mail taking both of the girls with him? *shrugs* Suits me. I can't stand having everyone jammed in here like sardines. *is so totally lying*
I've hardly heard a peep out of our angel, lately. What's she been up to?
Well, it's sweet of you nonetheless. They'll both be better off without Olwë's, ah, detrimental influence.
I think Túrin mentioned taking both of the girls with him?
True enough, but with how often he's gone these days, it doesn't hurt to have rooms made up for them. He can't do everything on his own. Especially with all the trips to Hithlum.
What's she been up to?
Oh, I think Lúthien's just trying to be active. Enjoying the warm weather to walk to Beren's house. Making new friends at Beren's house. It doesn't do her any good to stay cooped up all the time. It does get a bit lonely, though, hmm?
'Detrimental'. I'll have to remember to use that. The papers do like getting quotes from time to time that are actually printable.
*frowns* Hithlum? He's not thinking of moving back to that uneruly place, is he? Because I might cry.
*after a long pause* I miss her. Sometimes I'll stop to think and realize I've gone an entire day without seeing her except at the breakfast table. I guess she doesn't need her silly old dad anymore.
I don't think he'll move there, no. Hopefully not, anyway. But there are certain distractions there that will have him traveling a bit.
*looks at you sadly* She's just at an age where she has a boyfriend her time is all full up with unimportant things. You know how kids are at this age. She'll settle a bit once she's married soon enough, I think. She'll always need you, you know.
*stares at you with honest confusion* Distractions? What's with the riddles here, Melly?
I'm sure you have no idea what you're talking about are right. *manages a smile* Well, she's stuck with me, anyway. So she'll have to make the best of it, hm?
Oh? *thoroughly surprised* Oh. Well. I guess they always were good friends. Didn't they just see each other at the party? Sheesh.
*quickly* I sort of don't want to smother her. We all know how that turns out. I just thought it would be nice if...we could spend some time together. Just the two or three of us. Our last vacation not being everything I'd hoped.
*raises an eyebrow but says nothing* *thinks you'll figure it out on your own after some time*
*softly* I know what you mean. We can plan something for just the three of us. It's not smothering to want to spend time with her. She's just been distracted lately, I'm sure.
*feeling somewhat appeased* I hope she doesn't mind all these people underfoot. *fondly* I'm sure she doesn't. She's a good girl. We'll still brace her for Celeborn, of course. I understand he's quite a handful.
