*strolls through the streets of Delving and reaches a spot, near a corner café and not far from the palace*
*cheerfully, to himself* This looks a little like the place I died. Must look into getting some sort of commemoriative plaque put up.
*goes into the café and settles down with a newspaper*
*does raise an eyebrow at a headline regarding the burglary of the king's wine cellar and thinks that it's probably the least that jumped-up Sinda deserves*
From one repulsive excuse for a former Noldo to anouther, may I just say that you are looking exceptionally well for someone who spends all her lives in caves.
*finally gets her coffee and comes over nearer your table, looking as though she's debating whether to sit down*
*shortly* No. I haven't seen him. And if you know what's good for you, you won't stick around town, either. Melian may not be keeping the unsavory element out these days, but judging from what little time I've spent in converse with Thingol, I imagine Fëanorians still won't exactly be welcomed with open arms.
*shoves the chair out with his foot, which is about the closest he'll get to inviting you to sit down*
I have no intention of sticking around. I can't say that I've received the warmest of welcomes but I did have something of a morbid curiosity about the place, I must admit.
*leans back and stretches out his legs under the table* It's a positive oasis in the dessert, a shining jewel in the crown of-- Nah, who am I kidding? *wrinkles his nose and looks around* It's a bit of a dump, really.
*sips her coffee* And you've been here all of...what, ten minutes? Well, you people are nothing if not restless, I suppose. Where is your every-bit-as-horrid half, by the way?
We are a restless breed it's too. *rests his chin on his hands* Yet you're the same breed as I am. Are you really so domesticated that you don't wonder about the world outside just waiting to be conquered?
*smirks faintly* My sources tell me that my -- better? -- half is comforting a damsel in distress. He does it so well.
Domesticated? Hardly. *sighs a little* Despite my best efforts, I guess. Anyway, I've seen more of the world than you think. It's quite a bit easier these days.
He does it so well.
*looks straight at you* Huh. He must have changed rather considerably then.
*helpfully* If you decide to take the train there's an express out at two o'clock.
*appears unconvinced* If you say so. I certainly don't know him very well. I always got the impression nobody really could. Now you, on the other hand...
*cheerfully* I couldn't have put it better myself.
*reaches out and places his hand over yours for a brief moment in a sincere gesture of almost-sympathy* Then let me take you away. We'll see the sights, get drunk and get all-over suntans. You'll be refreshed before you now it.
How about -- *plucks a pen out of the pocket of a passing waitress* Thanks, hon. -- I give you my cellphone number and if you ever wanna leave this dive behind, you give me a call? *scribbles down his number on a napkin*
*stands up and smooths down his clothes* But I, however, have a train to catch.
You've always been a crap liar, honey. *reaches down and touches your cheek before pulling you to your feet, without allowing you to pull back*
*in a low, fierce voice* But you loved me once, even if it was only for a night. *kisses you deeply, for possibly too long for (a) comfort and (b) public decency* *lets you go and walks out of the café* *lights a cigarette once he gets outside the door and walks down the street*
