*watches you from his miserable comfy position in a tree nearby*
*drops clumsily lithely to the ground as you begin to walk away*
Pleasant day for a walk, Princess? You shouldn’t really be out on your own, you know, with situations… as they are. *almost snarkily* Where’s your Lord and Protector?
*knew you were in that tree the whole time* *just like she knew all the other times you were in that tree* *the hundreds and hundreds of times, you creepy little man*
*and yet….* *smiles to see you* Hello, Daeron. It’s been quite a while since we last spoke. It’s really sweet of you to worry about me, but Stan, Dan, and Fran are all here to look after me.
*graciously chooses to ignore that comment about her husband*
*stammers for a few moments, running his fingers through his hair and awkwardly shuffling his feet* *aw, shucks*
Oh, well, good to see you’re being looked after. I was just worried you know because you’re so important not just because you’re a princess and all but because you’re just so special, because you are special you’re very special and any sort of bad guy might take an interest in you and *forced laugh* you remember Curufin right well I guess you don’t seeing as how you don’t remember that stuff at all but let’s just say it was bad and I’d hate to see anything bad happen to you because you are really special.
*finds herself blushing and trying not to laugh at your… adorable… babbling*
*glances down into her basket and nods* Yes, potatoes. I was trying to grow my own vegetables so I could try this whole ‘organic’ thing, but I’m not sure it worked very well. Anyway, I haven’t been able to check up on things the last few weeks so I think they suffered for it. They might mash pretty well, though.
*quietly squees at how adorable and homemaker-y she sounds
*follows, practically bouncing because you are being nice to him and maybe if he plays his cards right you’ll leave your stupid husband and come run away with him and grow his vegetables THAT WILL TASTE LIKE SUNSHINE*
*sees you struggling with the basket* *valiantly* Here, Princess, allow me.
*happily foists the basket off on you and walks with renewed vigor*
*chats merrily on the way* It’s really lovely outside today, isn’t it? I always love that time of year when it first gets cold enough that you have to bundle up and your nose tingles, but it’s still not so cold that you’re miserable. All the trees have changed color but not all of the leaves are gone, so it doesn’t look completely dead yet, and all the squirrels are running around gathering up their nuts and trying to get ready for winter. Of course, we don’t get to see much of that at all in Delving, so it’s nice to get out every once in a while. *vaguely remembers that she’s supposed to be having a conversation with another person* Don’t you agree?
*sternly* Now, now, Lúthien, you can’t expect me to promise to anything if I don’t know what I’m promising. Tell me exactly what this is all about and then we’ll see what I can promise.
*is totally going to tell Thingol everything anyway*
*fidgets* Well… before everything happened… *pauses* You see, Beren and I were really enjoying living in the woods by ourselves, but it does get a bit lonely. So when he was offered a job as Professor of Veterinary Medicine… well, he took it. I mean, it was a good opportunity, and Daddy wasn’t speaking to us anyway, so there was no reason to stay here. *honestly* We really needed the money. Selling firewood and aloe extract doesn’t exactly pay the take-out bills…
*looks down at her feet* *softly* I thought it would be a good opportunity, you know. I mean, once we decided he would take the job, we were already going to be there. And… I’m sort of useless, Daeron. I want to be able to do more than sing and look pretty and serve tea. So I enrolled in nursing school.
*shrugs* It seemed like a good idea. *pauses* *more firmly* It seems like a good idea.
*nods slowly* Well, yes. I mean, Beren already accepted the job. And I already enrolled. So. We’re starting next term. Everything should be rebuilt by then and… *trails off*
*very softly* And Mom should be back by then I hope.
*looks up at you* So, yes, we’re going. But I’m not ready to tell Daddy yet. Once things have settled down a bit, I’ll let him know. Right now I think it would just break his heart. Please don’t tell him, Daeron.
*lets out a little shriek of joy and throws her arms around your neck and gives you a peck on the cheek*
Thank you thank you thank you, Daeron!! Oh, thank you! And don't worry. I'll remember to write and everything and you'll see me when I visit on holidays and stuff, I promise.
*mimes falling back under the weight of your assault*
*laughs fakely heartily* Glad to be of service, Princess.
I'll remember to write and everything
*scratches his head and grins* It's funny you should mention that, cause... well... it really is a funny coincidence. I'm moving to Ossiriand too! To teach music. And here I was worried that once I moved I'd never hear from you again. We'll practically be neighbors!
*mirrors your smile* Really!? That's so exciting. It'll be good to have a friend there. Maybe I'll even end up in one of your classes. *demurely* If I have room in my schedule, that is.
If there is an Eru, you will. That would be so much fun. *with mock firmness* But you mustn't expect me to go easy on you because we're such good friends. We are?
